Chandigarh, July 31:- Dr. Amit Kumar Agarwal, Commissioner and Secretary, Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department, attended the program organized at Haryana Niwas, Chandigarh as the chief guest today. On this occasion, he released the book 'Ik Boond Sao Saal' jointly written by renowned writer Dr. Shamim Sharma and her daughter-in-law Dr. Sarita Sharma and congratulated both the authors for this unique work.
Dr. Agarwal, while praising the book, said that in it all aspects of water such as historical, literary, cultural and environmental have been presented in a very simple and beautiful style. This book is very readable and useful for all age groups. He said that taking inspiration from this book, he has recently taken an important decision in the meeting of the Industries Department.
Now, it has been made mandatory to assess the availability of water and its feasibility before approving any new industrial project or park in the state. Along with this, water conservation is essential for industrial units, so that excessive use of groundwater can be prevented.
He said that Haryana is a semi-arid state, where water has always had cultural and scientific importance. Our old traditions (like well worship) and rules of cleanliness were linked to religion so that people do not pollute water and remain safe from water-borne diseases.
Dr. Agarwal said that today there is a vacuum in the language of the youth. It is very important to have a sense of pride towards one's mother tongue. Hindi is the major language that unites the country and to maintain it, simple, standard and practical books like 'Ik Boond Sao Swal' should be prepared as much as possible.
Meanwhile, addressing the program, Dainik Tribune Editor Mr. Naresh Kaushal said that literature is not just a means of expression, but a means of social change. Dr. Shamim has made his own identity in every genre of story, poetry, satire, autobiography, women's commentary and Haryanvi humor literature. His pen has given a very simple but effective tone to female inequality, feticide, social evils, rural life, family relations and human values. His contribution in giving literary dignity to the Haryanvi language is particularly noteworthy.
