Teej Festival Celebrated at JSS Asha Kiran Special School
Hoshiarpur: The festival of Teej was celebrated with great enthusiasm, zeal, and traditional customs at JSS Asha Kiran Special School. For the occasion, the school premises were attractively decorated in keeping with the Teej theme, infusing the entire atmosphere with a festive spirit. The program began with a warm welcome extended to the chief guests—Mrs. Dolly Cheema (Director, Surjit Gas Agency) and Mrs. Sudesh Singla (representing Alishan Hardware and Agarwal Timbers). They were honored by the school management with *Phulkari* (traditional embroidered shawls) and traditional bangles.
During the event, diploma students captivated the audience with cultural performances centered around Teej. Everyone appreciated the children's enthusiasm and talent. School Principal Mrs. Shelly Sharma remarked that Teej is not merely a festival but a symbol of family values, love, and Indian culture. She noted that Mrs. Dolly Cheema and Mrs. Sudesh Singla are regular donors who have long been associated with the institution, contributing to the welfare of the special-needs children.
At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Harbans Singh, President of the Ashadeep Welfare Society, expressed gratitude to all guests, donors, teachers, staff members, and supporters, while wishing for a bright future for the special-needs children. A delicious meal featuring *Kheer* (sweet rice pudding) was arranged for the children, guests, and the school family to mark the Teej celebration, which everyone enjoyed. While conducting a tour of the school for the guests, Colonel Gurmeet Singh, General Secretary of the Ashadeep Welfare Society, mentioned that 110 special-needs children are currently receiving education at the school.
The event was attended by Colonel Gurmeet Singh (General Secretary, Ashadeep Welfare Society), Mrs. Madhumeet Kaur, Malkit Singh Maheru, Harmesh Talwar, Ram Aasa, Course Coordinator Barinder Kumar, Principal Mrs. Shelly Sharma, Vice Principal Mrs. Indu Bala, along with the entire school staff and the special-needs children. On this occasion, Mrs. Dolly Cheema and Mrs. Sudesh Singla donated sums of ?10,000 and ?20,000 respectively to the school, for which the school management extended its special thanks.
