Suspended DIG Bhullar files bail plea in CBI court

Chandigarh:- Suspended DIG of Punjab Police Harcharan Singh Bhullar, arrested in a corruption case, has filed a bail plea in the Chandigarh CBI court, which will be heard tomorrow, Wednesday. Bhullar had earlier filed a bail plea in the Supreme Court, but was disappointed there too.
Last Friday (December 19), the Supreme Court refused to entertain Bhullar's plea for interim relief. Following this, Bhullar's lawyer withdrew the plea. Bhullar had earlier approached the Supreme Court after the Punjab and Haryana High Court refused to grant interim relief.
Bhullar's lawyer Vikram Chaudhary, opposing the High Court's order denying interim relief, said that after a long hearing, the High Court refused to grant interim relief, saying that the interim relief sought is tantamount to final relief.
The High Court did not give any reason in the order.
The lawyer said that the matter is related to personal liberty. He said that the CBI has violated its jurisdiction in this case. The state of Punjab withdrew its consent for the CBI investigation, yet the CBI entered Punjab.
