Sukkhu governments Shagun of Happiness at daughters weddings

Una, February 20:- On the emotional and responsible occasion of a daughter's wedding, the Himachal Pradesh government's 'Shagun of Happiness' initiative is a powerful testament to the government's sensitive commitment to economically disadvantaged families. The Chief Minister's Shagun Scheme is dedicated to providing dignified support to such families and bestowing blessings for their daughters' happy future.
 Under this scheme, eligible daughters from BPL families are provided an amount of Rs. 31,000 as 'Shagun' on the occasion of their marriage. Under the scheme, a total of Rs. 1,39,81,000 has been provided to 451 eligible beneficiaries in Una district over the past three years.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, this scheme is being implemented more robustly in accordance with the prescribed provisions. The objective of the scheme is not only to provide financial assistance but also to provide a strong foundation for the social dignity of poor families. The Shagun amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account, ensuring transparency and prompt disbursement.
According to the Una District Program Officer (ICDS) office, the Chief Minister Shagun Scheme is playing an effective role in the field of social security in the district. During the past three years, financial assistance of ?1,39,81,000 has been provided to 451 beneficiaries under the scheme.

In the financial year 2023-24, financial assistance of ?49,60,000 was provided to 160 beneficiaries, and in the year 2024-25, financial assistance of ?70,68,000 was provided to 228 beneficiaries. He informed that during the current financial year, assistance of ?19,53,000 has been provided to 63 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Shagun Scheme.

Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that, in accordance with the directives of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the district administration is ensuring the successful implementation of the scheme. The administration is committed to providing benefits to eligible families through a simple process.

*These are the eligibility criteria and application process*
According to the District Program Officer (ICDS) office, the Chief Minister's Shagun Yojana provides financial assistance for the marriage of eligible daughters from economically weaker and BPL families. To receive benefits, the girl must be 18 years of age or older and a permanent resident of Himachal Pradesh.
Applications can be made from two months before the marriage to six months after the marriage. The approved amount is transferred directly to the applicant's bank account. The girl's parents, guardians, or the girl herself can apply for this scheme.
To avail the benefits of the scheme, beneficiaries can contact the nearest Anganwadi worker, Child Development Project Officer's office, or District Program Officer's office on any working day.
