Students honoured with ESR Awards for Social Responsibility

Chandigarh 2nd September:- Rayat Bahra University organized the Education, Social Responsibility and Excellence (ESR) Awards-2026 function, during which students who performed excellently in competitions organized on awareness of drug abuse and water conservation were honoured with certificates and cash prizes.
The chief guest of the function, Harjit Singh Grewal, Chairman, National Commission for Minorities, said that the foundation of leadership and public service should be based on social equality, brotherhood and a strong sense of responsibility. He appealed to the students to actively participate in social welfare initiatives and channel their energy towards nation building.
The special guest of the function, former DGP of Punjab, Ishwar Singh, stressed the importance of discipline, honesty and dedication in public service. He motivated the students to run awareness campaigns on water and electricity conservation as well as environmental protection in the campus.
Former MP Avinash Rai Khanna said that the ESR Awards provide a meaningful platform for the youth to connect their career aspirations with social responsibility. He appreciated the efforts of the university to connect students with socially significant activities.
RBU Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra said that the scope of education should not be limited to the classroom and academic degrees. Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar stressed on the need to prepare students as responsible and ethical citizens. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar highlighted the importance of adopting social and ethical values along with academic excellence.
Prof. (Dr.) Simarjit Kaur, Dean, Student Welfare, organized the ESR Competitions at the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutes level. On this occasion, Harjit Singh Grewal, Chairman, National Minorities Commission and former DGP Ishwar Singh also presented certificates to the students who successfully completed the first aid training.
