Strong Willpower Essential to Quit Substance Abuse Tehsildar Dr Anil Kumar Bidhan
Hansi: An awareness program was organized at the premises of the local 'Vishwas' De-addiction and Rehabilitation Committee to mark World De-addiction Day. The event aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to encourage those who have successfully quit.
Tehsildar Dr. Anil Kumar Bidhan attended the event as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he described substance abuse as a serious societal issue that impacts the individual, the family, and society at large.
He emphasized the critical need to raise awareness among the youth regarding substance abuse, noting that the youth represent the country's future. He stated that if young people move in the right direction, both society and the nation will grow stronger. While acknowledging that overcoming addiction is not easy, he affirmed that it is possible through strong willpower, family cooperation, and societal support.
Dr. Bidhan remarked that addiction destroys not only an individual's health but also their family, social standing, and future. Commending those who had successfully quit addiction, he described them as sources of inspiration for society. He also urged parents to monitor their children's activities and provide them with good values ??and a positive environment to ensure they do not fall prey to any form of addiction. He expressed confidence that a drug-free society could be achieved through collective effort.
During the event, the Tehsildar honored several citizens who had quit addiction and carved out a new identity in society, praising their efforts. Participants who excelled in the painting competition held during the program were also awarded certificates. He noted that such competitions foster creative thinking among the youth and convey a positive message against substance abuse.
Experts at the event provided detailed information on the adverse effects of addiction, mental health, and various aspects of rehabilitation. The attendees also pledged to work towards creating a drug-free society. Dignitaries present on the occasion included Ramavatar (President, Vishwas De-addiction and Rehabilitation Committee), Madho Singh (Secretary), Manisha (Counseling Psychologist), Bharat Bhushan (Rehabilitation Counselor), Kavita Mor (ICTC Counselor), Sushil Mor (TB Department), Assistant Professor Akshay Lohan, Dr. Sahil, and Dr. Vijay Yadav, among others.
