Strong Preparations Completed in Punjab for the Nationwide Strike on 12 February

Patiala: 10 February 2026:- Punjab AITUC President Bant Brar and General Secretary Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, while issuing a press statement, said that strong preparations have been completed across Punjab, jointly by all Punjab AITUC organizations, for the nationwide strike being jointly organized on 12 February 2026 by 10 central trade union organizations and SKM.
A massive protest is being raised against the anti-people, economic, and communal policies of the Modi government. As a result, a high level of enthusiasm is being witnessed among trade union workers and farmer–laborers for the strike. Preparation conventions and joint meetings with farmers have been held in all districts of Punjab. There will be a complete strike in Punjab Roadways, PRTC, Electricity Board, banks, postal services, porters, and numerous industries. Apart from this, massive protest demonstrations are being organized in all districts and towns.
Comrades Brar and Dhaliwal stated that the issues for which the strike is being held include the repeal of the 4 anti-worker labor codes formed after abolishing 29 central labor laws, restoration of the MNREGA Act, withdrawal of the Electricity Bill 2025 and Seed Bill 2025, regularization of contract and outsourced workers, fixing the minimum wage at Rs. 26000 per month, restoration of the old pension scheme, granting worker status to Anganwadi, ASHA workers, and mid-day meal workers, provision of housing and loan waiver for agricultural laborers, eradication of unemployment, control of inflation, and ensuring affordable and quality education and health facilities for all, among other demands.
The state leadership of Punjab appeals to all workers and farmers to leave no stone unturned in ensuring the success of the strike on 12 February.
