Strong condemnation of repeated postponement of meetings by Education Minister and Education Secretary
Chandigarh, June 3: The '4161 Master Cadre Recast Lists Teachers Punjab' organization has strongly condemned the repeated postponement of scheduled meetings with the Education Minister and the Education Secretary. Sharing information with the press, organization leaders Balkar Singh Manghania and Lovepreet Singh Khalsa stated that teachers who have been working for the last three years are being issued 'show cause' notices regarding termination just a day before completing their probation period.
This is being done based on committees formed under the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the School Education Department, creating obstacles for these teachers and hanging a sword of termination over their services.
The organization had held a protest at the DSE office on May 8 with the support of fraternal teacher unions, after which the Mohali administration had scheduled a meeting with the Education Secretary for May 15. However, even after 20 days, that meeting is being repeatedly postponed.
Similarly, following a protest demonstration by these teachers outside the Education Minister's residence, the Anandpur Sahib administration had also fixed a meeting with the Education Minister, but it was cancelled at the last minute.
The leaders stated that these victimized teachers are diligently performing their duties in schools, including census, drug-related census, and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duties, and were appointed after passing the education department's selection process. However, under the pretext of court decisions, the department is proposing to terminate the services of these teachers through recast lists.
Declaring a protest at the Education Minister's village, Gambhirpur, on June 11, the leaders announced a march towards the minister’s residence and appealed to all fraternal organizations to participate.
Present on this occasion were teachers including Balwinder Singh, Parminder Singh, Kulwant Singh, Manpreet Singh, Krishan Singh, Jaspal Singh, and Suresh Kumar.
