Stock markets fell on Thursday after a strong rally
Mumbai:- After a strong rally in the previous session due to fresh tensions in West Asia and fears of ceasefire violations, the major stock market indices Sensex and Nifty fell in early trade on Thursday. In early trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex fell 243.57 points to 77,319.33 and the 50-share NSE Nifty slipped 88.3 points to 23,909.05.
Later, the Sensex was trading at 76,833.97 with a big decline of 728.93 points and the Nifty was trading at 23,821.45, down 189.55 points. Among the 30 Sensex companies, Infosys, Adani Ports, Interglobe Aviation, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance and ICICI Bank were among the major losers, while NTPC, Bharat Electronics, Tata Steel and Power Grid were trading with gains.
Crude oil prices rose 2.09 percent to $96.73 per barrel. According to experts, there is an atmosphere of concern in the market due to the Israeli attacks on Lebanon and its impact on the ceasefire. It is worth mentioning that on Wednesday, the Sensex closed at 77,562.90 with a big jump of 2,946.32 points and the Nifty closed at 23,997.35 with a gain of 873.70 points.
