Staying away from drugs is selfrespect Chaman Singh
Nawanshahr- Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Drug Victims Nawanshahr organized an anti-drug awareness camp under the "Drug-Free India Campaign" at Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Government High School, Khatkar Kalan (Nawanshahr) on October 25, 2025. This camp was presided over by Mrs. Roji Bala (Incharge).
On this occasion, S. Chaman Singh (Project Director) while addressing the students said that today the youth is being ruined due to drugs. Every day four youths lose their lives. While today the Government of India and the Punjab Government are working to make the country drug-free through various campaigns, the Indian Red Cross Society Punjab State Branch Chandigarh is making efforts to make the youth drug-free.
He also gave detailed information about the existence of the World Red Cross Organization and the work being done for the good of humanity all over the world. He gave detailed information to the students about the ill effects of drugs and also shared points about staying away from it.
Talking about the life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji, he said that we should always stay away from bad deeds by adopting the thinking of S. Bhagat Singh, because the youth are the future of the country. Students should believe in working hard to reach their destination and not adopt any wrong path.
He told the students that children start using drugs in ignorance under the influence of their elders, which later becomes very difficult to leave. He also mentioned about the diseases caused by the use of drugs and said that viruses like black jaundice and HIV are affecting the youth, which are very dangerous.
The fabric of society is being disrupted by drug use and there is economic distress and people are falling prey to mental illnesses. He explained to the children that you should not give in to any temptation and take any kind of drug like tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, heroin, etc. He also made them aware that mental health is also necessary to fulfill their dreams.
Because people who use drugs become mentally ill. They cannot fulfill their dreams. He also told them that to get rid of drugs, we should start from our own home. If any family member uses drugs, then they should be made aware of its deadly effects.
On this occasion, Mrs. Rosie Bala (incharge) made the students aware of drugs and thanked the Red Cross team and said that our staff and students will also contribute to the Drug-Free India Campaign and the war against drugs.
He assured that anti-drug awareness camps will continue in the future as well. Parvesh Kumar, school staff members Simranjit Kaur, Pawandeep, Amandeep Kaur, Kamaljit Kaur, Avtar Kaur, Savita and students were present on this occasion.
