Stateoftheart Walk3 technology showcased
Mohali:- Senior Orthopaedic Consultants Dr Sukhpal Singh Mann and Dr Aditya Bhardwaj launched the "Walk 3" technology during a press conference at Livasa Hospital. With over ten years of clinical expertise and over 2000 successful joint replacements, globally trained surgeons in Germany and Australia, Senior Consultant - Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement Dr Sukhpal Singh Mann shed light on how technology is redefining precision in orthopaedic surgery.
With advanced fellowships in Australia, Germany and the UK, globally trained Senior Consultant - Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement Dr Aditya Bhardwaj elaborated on how Augmented Reality has enhanced stability and precision in complex procedures.
The consultants explained how this technology uses augmented reality (AR) through lightweight smart glasses to provide direct real-time 3D guidance of the patient’s anatomy during joint replacement surgery. This allows surgeons to achieve highly accurate bone alignment and implant placement without bulky navigation equipment or pre-operative CT scans. The AR system displays virtual reference guides in the surgeon’s field of view, enabling a streamlined, intuitive, surgeon-controlled workflow that results in smaller incisions, faster rehabilitation, reduced post-operative discomfort, and enhanced surgical outcomes.
Talking about the benefits of the technology, he said that patients start walking within 3 hours of the surgery, it is a completely suture-free, scar-free surgery in which the patient’s natural ligaments and bones are preserved and there is minimal blood loss.
Both the surgeons also shared recent patient cases where this technology has proven invaluable in complex trauma, or previously surgically challenging situations. They spoke about the technology’s potential to provide millimeter-level precision, which has significantly improved the recovery time of patients.
CEO- Livasa Hospital, Anurag Yadav lauded the orthopedic team for adopting the advanced surgical system. He said that Livasa Hospital is committed to bringing global healthcare to Punjab. “Walk 3” technology represents a major step towards safer surgeries, quicker recovery and more predictable outcomes for our patients.
