State Womens Commission holds special court hears cases of violence against women

Una, February 9: The Himachal Pradesh State Women's Commission held its first special court at the district level at the Mini Secretariat in Una on Monday, hearing various cases related to violence against women and domestic violence. The Commission's Chairperson, Vidya Negi, and members Saroj Sharma, Reena Pundir, and Reena Daroch listened attentively to the problems of the affected women and issued necessary directions to the officers of the concerned departments to ensure quick and effective resolution of the cases.
State Women's Commission Chairperson Vidya Negi said that out of the 28 cases listed, 12 were heard, with both the petitioners and respondents present. Most of these cases involved domestic violence, workplace harassment, and family and sexual abuse. She said the commission would soon hold another such court.
On this occasion, Vidya Negi said that providing justice to women is the commission's top priority, and victims of violence should feel free to contact the commission for any kind of assistance. She informed that the commission is going to hold such courts in all the district headquarters of the state. In this series, a special court will be held at the Divisional Commissioner's office in Dharamshala, the headquarters of Kangra district, on February 11 and 12. She also appealed to the general public to come forward against incidents of violence against women and cooperate in providing justice to the victims.
Present on the occasion were Member Secretary Bushra Ansari from the Himachal Women's Commission office in Shimla, Additional Superintendent of Police Surendra Sharma, Law Officer Yashpal Sharma, Sub-Inspector Jamaldeen from Una Women's Police Station, and Private Secretary to the Women's Commission, Dilip Singh and Radhika Sood.
