State Scheduled Caste Commission Meets Chief Minister
Una, March 8: Himachal Pradesh State Scheduled Caste Commission Chairman and former Minister Kuldeep Kumar Dhiman, along with Commission members Advocate Vijay Dogra and Advocate Digvijay Malhotra, paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu at his official residence, Oakover, in Shimla on Sunday.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister, the Commission's Chairman and members discussed the Commission's activities and various issues concerning the Scheduled Caste community. The Chief Minister commended the Commission's efforts to protect the interests of the Scheduled Caste community.
He stated that the Scheduled Caste community constitutes approximately 26 percent of the state's total population, and therefore, it is essential to implement schemes related to their socio-economic upliftment seriously and effectively. He stated that the State Government is fully committed to the welfare of the underprivileged, and the Commission is playing an important role in this direction.
The Chief Minister stated that the Commission plays a vital role in protecting and promoting the constitutional rights of the Scheduled Caste community. He expressed hope that the Commission will continue to discharge its responsibilities with full commitment. On this occasion, the Commission's Chairman, former Minister Kuldeep Kumar Dhiman, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and informed that, in accordance with the Chief Minister's instructions, 10 kanals of land has been made available to the Commission in Rampur, Una district, for the construction of an office building, which has also been transferred to the Commission. He requested budgetary provisions for the construction of the building in the coming financial year, so that an office building, a library, a museum, and a photo gallery can be constructed there.
Mr. Dhiman congratulated the Chief Minister on the occasion of International Women's Day and commended the State Government's efforts for the upliftment and empowerment of women. He also congratulated the Chief Minister on the unopposed election of Congress candidate Anurag Sharma as a Rajya Sabha member.
