Special Intensive Revision of Voter Lists Begins in Hoshiarpur District

Hoshiarpur: Following the directives of the Election Commission of India, the work of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists commenced in the district today. As part of this initiative, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducted a door-to-door drive on the first day, distributing 101,733 enumeration forms. Providing details, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain stated that this process has been initiated across all seven assembly constituencies of the district.
She mentioned that a total of 1,563 BLOs in the district would reach out to 1,268,648 voters. She explained that BLOs are distributing enumeration forms under the supervision of supervisors, and representatives of political parties will also be present with the BLOs during this exercise. She added that the entire process is being monitored by the District Election Office.
The District Election Officer appealed to the public to actively participate in the ongoing SIR campaign to ensure that no eligible voter is left out. She stated that after receiving the form from the BLO, voters must fill it out and retain it; they are to submit the form when the BLO returns to collect it. They should also keep a copy for their own records.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that each BLO would cover approximately 812 voters, and 101,733 forms were distributed during the door-to-door drive on the first day. She noted that each BLO would visit every household a maximum of three times. If a house is found locked, the enumeration form will be left at the doorstep. Each voter will be provided with two copies of the pre-printed form. Voters have been urged to fill out the original form and hand it over to the BLO during the subsequent visit. Upon receiving the form, the BLO will issue a receipt, while the voter will retain a copy. If the voter is not present at home, the form may be handed over to any adult member of the family.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to voters who do not receive the form to contact their respective BLOs using the provided contact numbers or to utilize the "Book a Call with BLO" facility. She also advised voters to verify their details through the websites of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the CEO, Punjab, as well as the ECINet app.
Providing details on the distribution of forms by Assembly constituency, Ashika Jain stated that 9,938 forms were distributed in the 39-Mukerian constituency, 16,564 in 40-Dasuya, and 30,636 in 41-Urmar. Similarly, 12,059 forms were distributed in 42-Sham Chaurasi, 5,485 in 43-Hoshiarpur, and 4,992 in 44-Chabbewal, while 22,059 forms were distributed in the 45-Garhshankar constituency.
