Special awareness camp organized on unclaimed deposits
Una, November 28: As part of the nationwide campaign "Your Money, Your Rights," launched by the Department of Financial Services, Government of India, and the Reserve Bank of India, a special awareness camp on unclaimed deposits was organized today at Punjab National Bank. This campaign, which is being run nationwide until December 31, 2025, aims to help citizens identify and recover unclaimed financial assets held by various banks and insurance companies.
The program was chaired by Sanjeev Kumar Saxena, District Lead Manager, Punjab National Bank. He raised awareness about the importance of unclaimed funds, stating that this campaign not only helps citizens recover their money but also strengthens financial literacy, transparency, and financial inclusion.
Representatives from several major banks and insurance companies operating in Una district participated in the camp. During the event, detailed information was provided to the public regarding dormant accounts, unclaimed insurance proceeds, matured fixed deposits, dividends, and other financial claims. Participants were told how they could claim these funds through a simple, secure, and quick process.
Mr. Saxena urged those present to spread the word about this campaign to as many people as possible. He also explained the use of the NCL.D portal developed by the RBI. Through this portal, individuals can enter their name and bank details to check if they have any old or inactive accounts.
The objective of NCL.D is to return deposits that have been lying dormant for years to their rightful owners, reducing the need to visit bank branches and making the entire process faster, easier, and transparent.
He explained that out of the total unclaimed amount of ?352.52 crore in Himachal Pradesh, approximately ?30.43 crore lies dormant in various banks in Una district alone. Such awareness camps play a vital role in channeling these funds to the rightful depositors and promoting better financial management.
The camp was attended by District Lead Manager Sanjeev Kumar Saxena, Financial Literacy Centre (FLC) Coordinator RK Dogra, PNB RSETI Director Sudhir Kumar Sharma, District Lead Office Officer Sumit Kumar, PNB RSETI Faculty Akash Bhardwaj along with officials from other banks and insurance companies.
