Snowfall in Kashmir Rain forecast in plains

Srinagar: Fresh snowfall occurred in the higher reaches of Kashmir, while night temperature rose due to cloud cover in the Valley. According to officials, hundreds of tourists present in Gulmarg, a popular tourist destination in Baramulla in north Kashmir, were delighted when snowfall started in the early hours.
The rest of the valley remained cloudy. The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain. The night temperature rose due to cloudy skies. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 3.3 degrees Celsius, which is 3.1 degrees above normal.
According to officials, the famous ski resort Gulmarg was the coldest in Kashmir with a minimum temperature of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius.
The mercury in Pahalgam, a tourist destination in south Kashmir, which serves as the base camp for the Amarnath Yatra, was recorded at minus 0.4 degrees Celsius. Among other places, Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of 2.6 degrees Celsius, Kokernag recorded minus 1.3 degrees Celsius and Kupwara recorded zero degrees Celsius.
