SIR Housetohouse survey to start in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar from June 25
Nawanshahr:- District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh on Wednesday announced that the house-to-house survey under the Special Intensive Revision SIR program will start from June 25, 2026 across the district. Addressing a press conference at the District Administrative Complex, Mr. Aulakh said that during this month-long exercise, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit every house in their respective areas thrice so that no eligible voter is left out of the revision process. This survey will run from June 25 to July 24.
He said that during the first visit, the BLOs will distribute counting forms among the voters and inform them about the date of the next visit to collect the filled forms. If no one is found at the house during the first visit, the BLOs will keep the counting forms at the door and will collect them during subsequent visits.
The Deputy Commissioner told the residents that they need not panic about this process, every eligible voter will be included through the survey. To ensure transparency and fairness, 2438 representatives of different political parties have also been attached to the BLO as Booth Level Agents (BLAs). He further said that the aim of this massive campaign is that not a single eligible voter of the district remains out of the SIR.
Shri Aulakh said that eligible citizens can submit Form-6 along with the enumeration form to get new names added, while Form-8 can be submitted to amend the existing details.
Sharing the schedule of the SIR, he said that after the survey, the draft voter list will be published on August 3, 2026. Claims and objections can be submitted from August 3 to September 2, after which the final voter list will be published on October 1, 2026.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the voters to participate in this campaign in large numbers and informed that more than 90 percent of the voters of the district have already been mapped during the pre-mapping campaign. He also informed that NRIs living abroad, who have Indian passports, can also participate in SIR online or through their family members living here.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanjeev Sharma, SDM SBS Nagar Amanjot Kaur, SDM Balachaur Sunil Phogat and SDM Banga Vipan Bhandari were also present on the occasion.
