Nawanshahr- Renowned Punjabi singer Poonam Bala was honoured with the “Punjab Di Koel Award” by Punjab Sahitya Sabha, Nawanshahr. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Manmohan Singh Gulati said that whatever Poonam Bala has sung over the years has always been clean, dignified, and dedicated to Punjabi culture. He added that her voice carries such sweetness that listeners are instantly mesmerized by it.
On this occasion, Poonam Bala expressed her gratitude to Punjab Sahitya Sabha and stated that she has recorded ghazals and songs written by several poets of the Sabha. She said that she has always respected the Punjabi mother tongue and has given preference to singing quality literature.
On this occasion, Chief Guest Raj Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (City Police Station, Nawanshahr), Sabha President Darshan Dardi, General Secretary Des Raj Bali, Manmohan Singh Gulati, Bahadur Chand Arora, Vasudev Pardesi, Veena Sharma, Shamma Mallhan, Harblas Baddhan and others were present.
