Shortcut route from Mohali to airport to start from May 31

Chandigarh:- There is good news for people going to Chandigarh International Airport. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has been told that a new and shorter route to the airport from the Mohali side will start from May 31, 2026. This decision came during the hearing of an old case going on since 2015 regarding the route to the airport.
Before a bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjiv Beri, GMADA senior advocate R.S. Khosla told that this short route starting from Mohali's 'Bawa White House' (junction of sectors 65-66) is completely ready and will be made operational from May 31. Apart from this, the next hearing regarding the shortest route to be built from the intersection of sectors 47-48 in Chandigarh will be on July 16.
The opening of this new route will save time for passengers and will also provide relief from traffic jams, as till now most of the traffic goes to the airport via PR-7 road. The Punjab government told the court that this 8.5 km long and 50 meter wide road has been built as per the plan. Along with this, the 18 feet wide link road from Jagatpura village is also being strengthened.
