Shooter Arrived with a Contract to Kill Arrested Following Police Encounter
Karnal, May 18: The police have achieved a major breakthrough in the murder case of Dimple Arora, a female employee of the electricity corporation in Karnal. In connection with the broad-daylight shooting that took place in Sector-9, the police have arrested the prime accused—identified as Vikas, alias Sanju—following an armed encounter. The accused has been admitted to a trauma center after sustaining gunshot wounds to his leg. Preliminary investigations suggest that an old feud and a contract killing orchestrated from abroad are the motives behind the murder. The police are now investigating the entire network involved and the specific roles played by the individuals implicated in the conspiracy.
According to reports, on the afternoon of May 15, Dimple Arora had returned home from her office for lunch. While she was outside her residence, an unidentified assailant shot her in the head, resulting in her instantaneous death at the scene. The accused fled immediately after committing the crime. Given the gravity of the case, multiple police teams were deployed to conduct the investigation.
According to sources, Dimple Arora had been embroiled in a long-standing dispute over parking with a neighboring family. It is alleged that a male neighbor had opened a rear gate to his residence facing the very lane where Dimple’s house was situated. Frequent altercations regarding vehicle parking erupted between the two parties, and the matter had even reached the courts. The neighbor in question passed away approximately a year ago, while his sons currently reside abroad. The police are actively investigating the angle that the murder conspiracy may have been hatched by individuals based overseas.
The investigation has also revealed that the contract for the killing was commissioned from abroad. It is reported that a young man residing in Australia commissioned the accused to carry out the murder while they were in Bangkok. However, the police have not yet officially confirmed this detail.
According to the police, the arrested accused—Vikas, alias Sanju—hails from the village of Salempur in the Ladwa region of Kurukshetra. The accused has a criminal history, having previously served a 20-year prison sentence in connection with another murder case. He had been absconding since his release on bail. The police suspect that he had arrived in Karnal to carry out this crime shortly after returning from Thailand.
On the night of May 17, the CIA team received a tip-off that the accused was present on Indri Road. The police team cordoned off the area and attempted to intercept him, but the accused opened fire on the police. In retaliation, the police also fired back. During the exchange of fire, the accused sustained two gunshot wounds below the waist and collapsed at the scene. Subsequently, the police arrested him.
From the site of the encounter, the police have recovered a pistol, live cartridges, and a motorcycle. DSP Rajiv Kumar stated that the accused is currently being interrogated to identify other individuals involved in the murder. Once the accused is discharged from the hospital, he will be taken into police remand for intensive questioning.
The police have indicated that several angles have emerged in the case, including old rivalries, international connections, and family disputes. The investigation is currently ongoing, and the police have expressed confidence that they will soon unravel the entire case.
