SGPCs double face regarding MiriPiri institution comes to fore Jathedar Daduwal
Ambala, 31 July:- The ongoing dispute over the Miri-Piri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre located at Shahabad has once again become serious. On 27th July, the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee had formally taken over the management of the hospital in the presence of the Duty Magistrate appointed by the Haryana Government.
At that time, office bearers and members of the committee were also present. Despite this, now after a legal notice has been sent by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Badal Dal Miri-Piri Trust, the dispute has taken a new turn.
Former President of Haryana Committee and presently Chairman Dharam Prachar Committee Jathedar Baljit Singh Daduwal issued a statement saying that after taking over the management on 27th July, the Haryana Committee was preparing to release the pending salaries of the doctors and employees of the hospital, but in the meantime a legal notice has been sent to the head office of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee by the lawyer of SGPC and Miri-Piri Trust. It has been said in the notice that the court decision is in favour of Miri-Piri Trust and the stay given by the court in the matter related to the Board is still effective. Therefore, the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee cannot take over the management of the hospital. It has also been said that no office bearer or member of the committee should enter the Miri-Piri Institute.
Jathedar Daduwal said that this is completely misleading as before. This notice exposes the double face of Badal Dal. He said that for the last several days, continuous statements were being given by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami that if Haryana Committee wants to look after the Miri-Piri Institute then SGPC has no objection.
But now sending a legal notice regarding the same institution proves that SGPC actually does not want to leave control of the hospital. He said that if the earlier statement given by SGPC was correct then why was there a need to send a notice?
This makes it clear that there is a big difference between public statements and actual action. Jathedar Daduwal alleged that due to this action of SGPC and Miri-Piri Trust, the process of payment of salaries of hospital employees has once again become obstructed. He said that earlier also there was a continuous situation of confusion regarding the salaries of employees and now due to the legal notice uncertainty has arisen again.
He also alleged that some office bearers and members of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee are also in collusion with the "Badal family", due to which continuous new conspiracies are being hatched regarding the Miri-Piri institution. He said that if truly the hospital is running in losses of crores of rupees every month, as has been claimed earlier by Badal Dal, then why is a legal battle being fought to retain control over the same institution?
Jathedar Daduwal said that the Haryana Committee has now taken over the service and care of the institution and in the coming time all financial and administrative matters of the hospital will be investigated. He said that after a fair investigation of construction works, purchase of medicines, financial transactions and other administrative matters, it will become clear how work was done in the institution and if there has been any irregularity or corruption anywhere then its responsibility will be fixed.
He also appealed to the Sikh Sangat that now the time has come to support the truth so that the Miri-Piri institution can be run in a transparent and better manner and the interests of patients and employees can be protected. Jathedar Daduwal said that if SGPC is claiming its right over this institution then why is it not paying salaries to the doctors and staff of Miri-Piri? He said that SGPC should immediately pay the pending salaries of doctors and staff due before 27th July.
