Sex ratio has increased by 9 points compared to last year
Chandigarh, December 23:- Due to the strictness of the Haryana government, there has been a decrease in the number of women undergoing illegal abortions. The effect is that this year there have been 23 percent fewer abortion cases compared to last year 2024. Thousands of boys have been saved, due to which the sex ratio of girls has also increased to 918 this year compared to 909 last year.
The special task force formed by the Haryana government to investigate illegal sex ratio and prevent abortions held its weekly review meeting again today, which was chaired by the Secretary of the Health Department and Mission Director of the National Health Mission Haryana, Mr. R. S. Dhillon.
On this occasion, Director General of Health Services Dr. Manish Bansal, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Dr. Virendra Yadav, Dr. Simmi Verma, Dr. Parveen Bura, Nodal Officer of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Campaign Mr. GL Singla and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
Mission Director of National Health Mission Haryana Mr. RS Dhillon, while reviewing the cases of illegal sale of MTP kit and PNDT in the state, directed that the nodal officers of the districts where the sex ratio has come down this year as compared to the previous year, should keep an eye on the cases of illegal sex testing and subsequent abortions in their respective areas.
He also said that emphasis should be laid on reverse tracking in cases of abortion. He also directed to vigorously pursue the court cases of illegal MTP and PNDT.
