Seminar organized at Red Cross Drug Detoxification Center
Nawanshahr:- Red Cross Drug Detoxification Center Nawanshahr organized an anti-drug awareness camp under "Drug Free India Campaign" at village Karawar. This camp was presided over by Mr. Karnail Singh (Sarpanch). Sardar Chaman Singh (Project Director) while addressing the villagers said that drug addiction has become a very big problem in today's time, because today a large number of youth are also getting addicted to drugs.
At a young age, children do not have information about drugs, due to which they consume drugs knowingly or unknowingly or under the influence of someone, and later they get caught in the grip of drugs from small drugs to big drugs like heroin. The government has made many strong arrangements for the prevention of drug addiction across Punjab, has opened free hospitals for drug addicts, where drug addicts can get their treatment free of cost as per their wish.
He said that our youth has forgotten our culture and the martyrdom of our Gurus, how our martyred warriors have made a great contribution to the freedom of this country by shedding their blood. Therefore, we should connect with our history and civilization so that we can avoid the social evils going on in the present times.
During this, he shared detailed information about the diseases caused by drug use and told that people who are addicted to drugs, they themselves are mentally and physically ill, due to this their family members are also mentally ill. He said that drugs cause destruction.
On this occasion, Mrs. Kamaljit Kaur (Councilor) shared information about the work and activities of the center. She said that if any person is addicted to drugs, he can get admitted to the center for a month as per his wish and get his treatment completely free of cost. Where the affected person is kept like a family environment and is given good treatment.
On this occasion, Mr. Karan Kataria (Zilla Parishad Member) also participated in the main event and thanked the Red Cross team and said that Red Cross is an organization that is working for human service, Punjab government and organizations are doing a lot of work so that together we can give new guidance to the youth trapped in drugs so that Punjab and society can develop. On this occasion, Paramjit Singh, Jaskaran, Jaspal Kaur, (Panch), Sukhwinder Kaur (Panch), Baljit Kumar, Usha Rani and other villagers were present.
