Security beefed up in Kashmir ahead of Pahalgam attack anniversary
Pahalgam:- Security has been beefed up at tourist spots across Kashmir ahead of the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack. All security agencies have been directed to be on high alert for any possible terror attack near tourist spots on the anniversary of the Pahalgam incident.
Several measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of tourists visiting Pahalgam. Every service provider has been thoroughly background checked and officially registered. They have also been issued a unique QR code with their personal details and other relevant information. It is worth mentioning that on April 22 last year, terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba shot dead 26 people in the Baisran valley of Pahalgam. The victims included 25 tourists and a horse rider.
After the attack, tourists stopped visiting Jammu and Kashmir. About 50 tourist attractions were closed; however, some of these locations were later reopened after a comprehensive safety audit.
