Second Punjab Master Athletic Meet concludes in Bathinda leaving indelible footprints
Hoshiarpur- Milkha Singh Master Athletics Club (Regd.) Bathinda concluded its second Punjab Master Athletic Championship at DAV College Bathinda under the able leadership of Club President Balwinder Singh Numberdar. In this championship, male and female athletes participated in groups of men and women with a difference of five years of age from 30 years to 100 years. The club allowed each athlete to participate in two events.
Since this entry fee was made online to help the athletes, around 500 athletes participated in this championship, which is an inspiring example in itself. Jerseys were also given free to each athlete. Breakfast and lunch were well arranged for every athlete, which was appreciated by every athlete and the arrangement of AC rooms near the sports ground at a reasonable rent was also excellent.
The office bearers and members of Milkha Singh Master Athletics Club (Regd.) Bathinda had arranged a good ground and necessary equipment for every event in a timely manner to hold the athletics championship. In this championship, like the players from other districts of Punjab and other states, the athletes of Hoshiarpur district also participated in full and excelled in their respective events.
In the 65-69 age group, Harkrishan Singh of Dasuha won gold and silver medals by securing first place in long jump and second place in 100 meter race respectively. Pankaj Kumar of Hoshiarpur won bronze and silver medals by securing third place in 100 meter race and second place in 200 meter race respectively in the 45-49 age group.
Ashok Kumar Pal of Hoshiarpur won bronze medal by securing third place in 5 km race walk in the 65-69 age group. Bahadur Singh of Hoshiarpur won silver medal by securing second place in high jump in the 70-74 age group.
Similarly, P. Balbir Singh Saini won the silver medal by securing second place in the 5 km racewalk in the 70-74 age group. The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian and local urban MLA Jagroop Singh.
