Hoshiarpur- Under the orders of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, an important meeting was held today at the SDM office under the chairmanship of SDM Hoshiarpur Gursimranjit Kaur regarding the patrolling to stop stubble burning.
The meeting was attended by CDPO Block Hoshiarpur-1, 2 and Bhunga, BDPO Block Hoshiarpur-1, 2 and Bhunga, Naib Tehsildar Hoshiarpur and ADO Block Hoshiarpur 1, 2 and Bhunga. The SDM directed all the officers to keep a strict watch on the incidents of stubble burning and take immediate action on any violation.
He said that burning stubble in the fields is very harmful to the environment and it increases air pollution to dangerous levels.
Gursimranjit Kaur said that all the departments should come together to make the farmers aware about the alternative methods of stubble management and if required, machinery or assistance should be made available. She also directed that regular monitoring should be done in every area so that no incident of stubble burning takes place. The SDM directed the officers to submit reports from time to time and said that the district administration is working on a zero tolerance policy on this issue. She also appealed to the farmers to cooperate with the administration in protecting the environment.
