Hoshiarpur- Former Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Teekshan Sood, in a press note issued, paid emotional tributes to the famous freedom fighter and India's first Home Minister, Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary. He said that after independence, Sardar Patel's resolve and determination played an important role in the unity and integrity of the country, which will be remembered for ages.
Sood said that when the British liberated India, they had given the freedom to all the princely states, Nawabs and Maharajas to decide for themselves whether they should join independent India or not. It was the great achievement of the determined Home Minister of that time that Sardar Patel, with his diplomatic skills, annexed about 560 princely states to India, which strengthened the country.
He said that due to the efforts of Sardar Patel, Jammu and Kashmir was also being completely divided, but the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru stopped it, the result of which India is still suffering today. Sood said that the Gandhi-Nehru family did not give Sardar Patel due respect after his death so as not to let his achievements overwhelm them.
But today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given him due respect and installed his huge statue and has started conveying his message to the coming generations by organizing a “Run for Unity” on his birth anniversary. This is a true tribute of the nation to him.
