Samarth Gyandeep Library A New Hub for Competitive Exam Preparation
Una, July 3: Success in competitive examinations requires not only hard work but also a calm, disciplined, and inspiring study environment. Keeping this need in mind, the Una district administration has developed the 'Samarth Gyandeep Library' in Room No. 221 of the Mini Secretariat, Una, at a cost of approximately ?15 lakh. Today, this library is emerging as a premier study center for youth preparing for competitive exams and higher education.
Launched under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, the 'Samarth' initiative aligns with the state government's vision—championed by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu—of prioritizing the empowerment of youth and women. The initiative aims to provide young people with positive opportunities, quality resources, and excellent guidance.
The Gyandeep Library is a tangible realization of this vision. It provides youth with an ideal study environment for competitive exam preparation right within the district. Conceived by Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, the library serves not only as an excellent place to study but also as an effort to foster a culture of learning among the youth.
He believes that talent is not bound by a lack of resources; what is needed is an environment where young people can prepare for their goals with complete concentration and discipline. The library was established with this very mindset, ensuring that youth—especially those preparing for competitive exams—have access to quality study facilities locally.
In addition to the one at the Mini Secretariat in Una, Samarth Gyandeep Libraries have also been set up in Panjawar and Mairi Khas. Meanwhile, work is underway to modernize the library located at Shri Maidas Sadan (Mata Shri Chintpurni complex) to ensure that a larger number of students can benefit from improved study facilities.
**Free Wi-Fi, AC Room, and a Quiet Atmosphere**
Assistant Commissioner Vinay Modi stated that the library operates daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It offers seating arrangements for approximately 30 students to study at a time. The library features an air-conditioned study hall, free Wi-Fi, modern furniture, comfortable seating arrangements, and an atmosphere characterized by complete quiet and discipline. Students can avail themselves of these facilities for a nominal fee of just ?200 per month. The operational rules ensure that the study environment remains conducive to concentration and discipline at all times.
Young people interested in obtaining library membership can contact the office of the Secretary, Red Cross Society—located in Room No. 406 of the Mini Secretariat, Una—during office hours.
**Youth Appreciate the Initiative**
Sonakshi, a resident of Dusada, shared that she is preparing for competitive examinations after completing her Class 12 studies. Previously, she studied at home but struggled to find a suitable environment for focused learning. Since discovering the Gyandeep Library, she has found a quiet, safe, and inspiring setting for her regular studies. She notes that the free Wi-Fi, air-conditioned hall, and disciplined atmosphere are significantly aiding her preparation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Anu Kaushal—a dental surgeon by profession who is preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams—states that the library's positive and secure environment motivates her to study consistently. The available facilities and the guidance provided periodically by Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal boost the confidence of young aspirants preparing for competitive exams. She believes that more students should take advantage of this library.
The Gyandeep Library reinforces the belief that with the right environment, superior resources, and proper guidance, talent paves its own path to success. The district administration has urged the youth of the district to make the most of this facility. Available for a fee of just ?200 per month, this library is emerging as a reliable study hub that brings the youth of Una closer to realizing their dreams.
