Thiruvananthapuram:- A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker committed suicide in Trincomalee, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. According to the police, Thampi took this drastic step after he was not given a BJP ticket.
According to the police, he wanted to contest as a BJP candidate from Trincomalee ward of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, but got upset when he came to know that his name was not in the BJP candidate list.
After being denied the ticket, he alleged on social media that he was denied the ticket due to the interests of local leaders linked to the "sand mafia". He would contest the elections as an independent candidate. However, he took his own life in the afternoon.
