Chandigarh- A 'Ripudaman Singh Roop Memorial Event' will be held to pay tribute to the renowned Punjabi litterateur and advocate, Ripudaman Singh Roop, who passed away recently. The event will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Kisan Bhawan, Sector 35-A, Chandigarh. It is noteworthy that Mr. Roop’s body was donated to PGI, Chandigarh, for medical research purposes.
Mr. Roop, who played a leading role in employee and public struggles, contributed significantly to Punjabi literature. His literary works include two poetry collections - 'Rani Rutt' and 'Lalgarh'; four story collections - 'Dil Di Agg', 'Bahane Bahane', 'Oopri Hawa', and 'Pahu Phutale Tak'; two mini-story collections - 'Badmash' and 'Khurpa'; three novels - 'Jhakhraan Vich Jhoolda Rukkh', 'Preeti', and 'Teela'; an essay collection - 'Banne Channe'; a poetry anthology edit - 'Dhoor Hethli Kavita'; and a compilation of his domestic and foreign travels - 'Panchhi Jhaat'.
