Restrictions on public gatherings lifted in Ladakh
Leh:- Authorities in Ladakh have withdrawn restrictions imposed under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code. Under this, gatherings of five or more people were prohibited. The Deputy Commissioners of Leh and Kargil districts issued separate orders on Monday to lift the restrictions imposed to prevent disturbance of peace and deterioration of public order in the region.
The restrictions were imposed across the Union Territory following widespread violence in Leh on September 24. Four people were killed and several injured during the violent atmosphere. Days after the Home Ministry announced a judicial inquiry into the September 24 Leh violence, the two groups resumed talks with the Centre on October 22 after a gap of five months.
