Residents of Mahindwani Gujjaran Troubled by Dilapidated Street Fears of Disease Outbreak Loom

Hoshiarpur: Residents of Mahindwani Gujjaran village, distressed by the dilapidated condition of a street running through the heart of the village, have demanded that the government and the administration undertake immediate repairs. Conversely, the Sarpanch's husband maintains that the street will be constructed once the necessary grants are received.
In Mahindwani Gujjaran, the street stretching from Gurmeet's house to Gurcharan's residence—located right in the center of the village—is in a severely dilapidated state. Furthermore, there are no drainage channels on either side to facilitate the outflow of wastewater. Consequently, water frequently stagnates and spreads across the street, making it extremely difficult for residents to traverse the area. Moreover, the stagnant, filthy water has led to a proliferation of mosquitoes and flies, raising serious apprehensions regarding the potential outbreak of diseases.
Ram Kumar, a resident of Mahindwani Gujjaran, stated that the Panchayat has received grants from the 15th Finance Commission on multiple occasions; yet, no attention has been directed toward this specific street. He noted that dirty water remains stagnant on the street around the clock, thereby sustaining the risk of disease transmission. Additionally, residents face immense difficulties and inconvenience while attempting to pass through the street. "We demand that the administration undertake the construction of this street without delay," he asserted.
When contacted regarding the matter, Buta Ram—the Sarpanch's husband—reiterated that the street would be constructed once the requisite funds are received. He added that the local MLA and the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) of Garhshankar have been apprised of this situation on several occasions.
