Red Cross Drug Detoxification Center celebrated World AIDS Day

Nawanshahr:- Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Drug Victims, Nawanshahr organized an awareness seminar on World AIDS Day at School of Eminence, Nawanshahr. In which under the guidelines of Punjab State Control Society Chandigarh, Indian Council of Social Welfare Nawanshahr supported and ART Center and OT Center Nawanshahr participated. The function was presided over by Sardar Sarabjit Singh Principal School of Eminence Nawanshahr.
On this occasion, Chaman Singh (Project Director) IRCA said that HIV is the virus that causes AIDS, the immune system of the affected person becomes weak. Any HIV-infected person has to take prescribed medicine for life. Which is available free of cost from the ART Center in the government hospital. This virus was identified for the first time in America.
More than 40 million people are infected worldwide. This is a deadly virus. Girls and boys between the ages of 15 and 24 are more affected by this virus. It is incurable. This virus can be prevented from spreading in the body with antiretroviral therapy. About 2.5 million people between the ages of 15 and 49 are infected. South Africa has the highest number of people affected.
This virus is transmitted through blood transfusion of an infected person, unprotected sexual intercourse, use of infected needle syringes by drug addicts, use of infected blades etc. and breastfeeding from an infected mother to her child.
