Ratia SDM Outlines Special Intensive Revision Campaign

Ratia, June 13: Surendra Singh, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and SDM of the Ratia Assembly constituency, has appealed to all voters in the area to provide two color passport-sized photographs to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visiting their homes during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign. This ensures that their photographs and other details are recorded accurately and precisely in the electoral roll. He emphasized that the cooperation of every citizen is essential to make the electoral roll error-free, up-to-date, and transparent, and that providing the information requested by the BLOs is a crucial responsibility of every voter.
SDM Surendra Singh was addressing a press conference held at his office in the Mini Secretariat on Saturday. He stated that the Election Commission of India is conducting a Special Intensive Revision campaign for the year 2026, under which a comprehensive verification of the electoral roll will be carried out. The primary objective of this campaign is to include the names of all eligible citizens in the electoral roll and to make the list more accurate and reliable by removing the names of ineligible, deceased, or relocated voters.
Speaking at the press conference, he informed that the Election Commission has set July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. All youths attaining the age of 18 by this date will be able to register themselves as voters. Under the campaign, BLOs will conduct door-to-door voter verification from June 15 to July 14, 2026; they will fill out enumeration forms, update photographs and other details, and verify necessary documents. All BLOs will carry at least 30 blank Form-6s and declaration forms so that forms can be provided on the spot to citizens wishing to become new voters.
The SDM urged citizens to extend full cooperation upon the arrival of the BLOs and to provide accurate and verified information. Through the media, he specifically requested that every voter keep two color passport-sized photographs ready to facilitate the smooth completion of the photo-updating process in the electoral roll. He advised citizens to carefully verify their names, addresses, photographs, and other details once the draft electoral roll is published. Should there be any errors, omissions, or grounds for objection, claims and objections should be submitted within the stipulated timeframe to ensure the final electoral roll is accurate and up-to-date. Voters were cautioned against sharing their information with fake websites or unauthorized individuals and were advised to contact their area's Booth Level Officer (BLO) directly for any assistance or to lodge complaints.
SDM Surendra Singh emphasized that an accurate and error-free electoral roll is essential for strengthening democracy. He stated that the draft electoral roll, prepared under the special intensive revision process, would be published on July 21, 2026. Subsequently, claims and objections would be accepted from July 21 to August 20, allowing for the inclusion of eligible voters and the timely rectification of errors in the list. The final publication of the electoral roll is scheduled for September 22. He urged all citizens, social organizations, public representatives, and the youth of the area to actively participate in this campaign and cooperate with the Election Department.
