Railway Division collects 252 crore fine through ticket checking in January

Jaito, February 3:- In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Ferozepur Division of Northern Railway said that the ticket checking team of Ferozepur Division is continuously checking tickets in trains to check the travel of unauthorized passengers in trains. During ticket checking by the ticket checking staff and chief ticket inspectors of the division in January 2026, a total of 39,215 passengers were found travelling without tickets or irregularly, and fines of about ?2.52 crore were collected from them.
The ticket checking revenue of Ferozepur Division during January 2026 has increased by 27 percent over the same period of the previous year. Regular checks are carried out at the main stations of the division to maintain cleanliness and prevent the public from littering at the stations and to make them aware about cleanliness. As a result, in January, fines of over ?72,000 were levied for littering within the station premises.
Divisional Railway Manager Mr. Sanjeev Kumar informed that ticket checking campaigns will continue in Ferozepur Division. The main objective of ticket checking is to improve ticket sales and collect fines from passengers travelling without tickets, ensuring that they can travel with valid tickets in future.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mr. Paramdeep Singh Saini informed that this achievement is the result of the activity, dedication and continuous efforts of the ticket checking staff of the division. He further said that continuous campaigns are being conducted to make passengers aware about the rules of travel to prevent irregular travel and littering.
