Quantum Papers CSR initiatives are transforming lives in rural Punjab

Hoshiarpur: Quantum Papers Limited, one of India's leading agro- and wood-based paper manufacturers, is making significant contributions to rural development through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, focusing on education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure development.
Based in Saila Khurd, Hoshiarpur district, the company aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of villages surrounding its production unit through these initiatives. Its CSR programs are designed to foster inclusive growth while supporting environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Education is a key focus area for the company. Under its initiatives, Quantum Papers has provided solar power systems to 300 meritorious students in Hoshiarpur district. The company has supported rural schools, strengthened educational infrastructure, and distributed sewing machines to encourage vocational training among women. In another significant move, work has begun to upgrade 50 Anganwadi centers to provide Montessori-level education to village children.
In the healthcare sector, Quantum Papers has assisted a charitable hospital in Dadyal village by providing doctors for OPD services. The company has also contributed to upgrading a drug de-addiction center in Hoshiarpur. To ensure access to clean water in rural areas, several drinking water projects—including the installation of RO systems, water coolers, tube wells, and water storage tanks—have been implemented.
The company has also supported sanitation and infrastructure projects, such as sewerage systems, village pathways, and other public amenities. Solar street lights have been installed in villages and marketplaces, and assistance has been provided for the operation and maintenance of government tube wells and diesel pumps. Recognizing the importance of environmental sustainability, Quantum Papers has continued to promote the use of agro-residues—such as wheat straw and bagasse—in paper manufacturing, thereby reducing reliance on traditional wood resources. The company has also implemented water conservation measures in response to the escalating groundwater crisis in Punjab.
In 2024, Quantum Papers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Punjab government to support water conservation and management projects through CSR funding. These initiatives include the construction of check dams, the promotion of efficient irrigation systems, the utilization of clean water, and groundwater recharge measures. Three recharge wells installed in Bhawanigarh have reportedly helped conserve approximately 20 million liters of water.
Company officials stated that the CSR program aims to create long-term value for society, with a particular emphasis on women's empowerment, sanitation, access to safe drinking water, and employment-oriented skill development.
Through sustained investment in education, healthcare, environmental conservation, and rural infrastructure, Quantum Papers continues to play an active role in improving the quality of life for communities across the region.
