PWD Clerical Staff Organization appeals to the Minister

Una, December 23: Tara Singh, President of the Himachal Pradesh Clerical Staff Organization of the Public Works Department, has urged State Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya to reconsider the proposal to abolish 56 posts of Superintendent Grade-II in the department, stating that it is unjust. The department is already working with limited staff, and abolishing these posts will adversely affect its daily functioning.
These Superintendent Grade-II posts in the department were created a long time ago and have been part of the sanctioned cadre for many years. These posts are a crucial avenue for promotion for senior assistants.
He stated that the workload on the department is considerable, and the existing number of employees is essential to meet operational requirements. Any reduction in posts will lead to delays in work, increase the workload on the remaining employees, and result in a decline in efficiency.
Furthermore, this proposal has also created serious concern and apprehension among eligible senior assistants. Currently, a large number of senior assistants are fully eligible for promotion to these posts, but the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting has not been held, resulting in a stalemate.
If these posts are abolished before the DPC meeting, it will severely impact the promotion prospects of eligible senior assistants and cause them significant financial loss. Many employees are in the final stages of their service and are entirely dependent on this promotion for better salaries, pension benefits, and career advancement.
Abolishing these posts at this stage would be an injustice to the employees. He urged the Public Works Department Minister to consider this matter sympathetically, expecting positive cooperation.
