Punjabs GST collection up by 2151 percent despite major challenges
Chandigarh/Jalandhar- Punjab has registered a growth of 21.51 percent in net GST collection till October 2025, with a robust growth of 14.46 percent in the month of October alone. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema lauded the state's performance despite widespread floods and the recent rationalization of tax rates under GST 2.0.
He said that Punjab collected Rs 15,683.59 crore as net GST from April to October 2025, as against Rs 12,907.31 crore during the same period of the previous financial year, a remarkable growth of Rs 2,776 crore. He said that in contrast, the growth rate in the financial year 2024-25 till October 2024 was only 3.8 percent.
He said that the state's net GST collection for October stood at Rs 2,359.16 crore, a significant increase over the Rs 2,061.23 crore collected in October 2024. He said that this increase of Rs 298 crore reflects the continued economic momentum of the state.
He said that despite the cuts in these tax slabs and facing severe floods, Punjab's GST revenue has increased, which reflects the success of better compliance, anti-tax evasion initiatives and digital surveillance systems.
