Punjabi Sahit Sabha Patiala awards Punjabi Sahit Sabha Kalamkar Award to 5 writers

Patiala, November 9:- Punjabi Sahit Sabha (Regd) Patiala today presented ‘Punjabi Sahit Sabha Kalamkar* Award’ to five senior writers above the age of 80 years during a memorable literary function organized by Punjabi Sahit Sabha (Regd) Patiala at the Lecture Hall of Language Department, Punjab, Patiala. The function was attended by the President of the society, Dr. Darshan Singh ‘Asht*, President of Gyan Jyoti Educational Trust, Sardar Upkar Singh and former Director of Language Department, Punjab, Dr. Madan Lal Hasija.
At the beginning of the function, the President of the society, Dr. Darshan Singh ‘Asht*, while welcoming the present writers, said that the society was established in 1957 AD. The glorious tradition of presenting ‘Punjabi Sahit Sabha Kalamkar* Award’ to five senior writers above the age of 80 years in its functions will continue. Because they are a valuable asset of the society and their literary contribution is historical.
Dr. Madan Lal Hasija said that such wonderful traditions provide energy to the writers. While Upkar Singh said that with such a meaningful effort of the society, the new generation can get success and secrets of hidden knowledge from the honored senior writers.
The five senior writers who were given these awards today. They include Inderjit Singh Chopra, Dr. Tarlok Singh Anand, Baldev Singh Bindra, Sukirti Bhatnagar and Mohsin Usmani. The letters of honor regarding these writers were read out by Dr. Hargunpreet Singh, Shishan Kumar, Satnam Kaur Chauhan, Gurpreet Dimpy and Amritpal Singh Shaida respectively.
These personalities were garlanded by Dr. Surjit Singh Khurma, Amarjit Singh Walia, Dharam Kameana, Dr. GS Anand, former DSP Nahar Singh, General Secretary Davinder Patialvi, Balbir Singh Dildar and Navdeep Singh Mundi etc. Patron Babu Singh Rahal called this tradition a historic step in the history of the Sabha. After receiving the award, the honorees shed light in detail on their valuable life experiences and writing process.
During this event, Naveen Kamal Bharti, Amar Garg Kalamdan Dhuri, Asha Sharma, Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, Vijay Kumar, Anu Bhatti, Gopal Samana, Gurdhyan Singh, Amritpal Singh Koffee, Bachan Singh Gurm, Angrez Singh Virk, Satish Vidrohi, Jagga Singh Ranguwal, Gurpreet Kaur Dhillon and Vijay Kumar etc. read their works.
Dr. Harjinderpal Singh Walia, Prof. G.S. Bhatnagar, Professor Tarlochan Kaur, Joga Singh Dhanaula, Prof. Mahinderpal Singh, Advocate Gurdarshan Singh Gusil, Rajeshwar Kumar, Harvinder Singh Superintendent, Jasbir Singh, Gurcharan Singh Gunike, Prof. JK Miglani, Joga Singh, Mohan Lal Khanna, Prakash Chand, Gurcharan Singh Chauhan, Rajesh Kotia, Joga Singh Khiva etc. were present in this event. In the end, the patron of the society, Babu Singh Rahal, thanked the writers who attended. The role of managing the stage was played by General Secretary Patialvi and Navdeep Singh Mundi.
Finally, a two-minute silence was observed to express deep grief over the demise of Sahitya Akademi Award-winning novelist Chandan Negi, who had been associated with the assembly for a long time, as well as painter Gobindar Singh Sohal, Jaitegh Singh Anant's wife Bibi Jaspal Kaur, and Joga Singh Dhanaula's brother-in-law Ajaib Singh Sangrur.
