Punjabi poet Balbir Jalalabadi passes away

Patiala, December 24:- Eminent Punjabi poet Balbir Jalalabadi (63) from Patiala passed away this morning in Pune. He had gone to Pune to be with his son a few months ago. The body of Mr. Jalalabadi will reach Patiala tomorrow and the family will inform about the time and place of his last rites later.
Punjabi Sahit Sabha Patiala President Dr. Darshan Singh ‘Asht expressed deep grief over the demise of Mr. Jalalabadi, who retired from Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, and said that he was actually a writer of common people who continuously fought a pen war for human interests throughout his life.
Dr. Asht, while mentioning his decades-old association with this committed writer, said that this poet had emerged like a shining star in the Punjabi poetry sky with his first collection of poetry ‘Chup *ch Sulghade Bol*, which was published in two consecutive editions.
Apart from this, he earned good fame with ‘Manawata Ghirhaazar Hai*, besides Punjabi and Hindi poetry collections like ‘Karwan,’ ‘Antar Bhaav* and ‘Kalam Ke Hamsafar*. In many provincial and national poetry collections, he especially dedicated poems to the militant people fighting for the equality of an unequal life. He was serving as the General Secretary of the Gyandeep Sahit Manch Patiala for a long time.
Punjabi Sahit Sabha Patiala President Dr. Darshan Singh ‘Aasht, Patron Dr. Gurbachan Singh Rahi, Babu Singh Rahal, Sukhdev Singh Shant, Dr. Harpreet Singh Rana, General Secretary Davinder Patialvi, Sukhdev Singh Chahal, Navdeep Singh Mundi and Balbir Singh Dildar etc. have also expressed deep condolences on the demise of Mr. Jalalabadi.
