Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, October 14: Under the guidance of Higher Education and Languages Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains and the directions of Director Language Department, Punjab S. Jaswant Singh Zafar, Office Assistant Director, Punjabi Cell, Chandigarh today organized written children's literature quiz competitions for different categories of students belonging to the district at Shaheed Major Harminder Pal Singh Government College, Phase 6, Mohali.
The main objective of these competitions organized under the supervision of Assistant Director Mrs. Surinder Kaur is to instill a love for Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat among school students. Research Officer Mrs. Jagrit Kaur and Research Officer Mrs. Jagdeep Jot welcomed the students, teachers, parents and dignitaries who had come to participate in the competitions and gave a brief information about the working style of the department. 
As per the rules of quiz competitions, these competitions were conducted in written form and one hour was allotted for them. A total of 100 questions related to Punjabi language, literature, religion, personalities, culture, history and geography were asked to the students and the total marks of the question paper were 400. The students who secured the first, second and third positions in the quiz competition were honored with cash prizes of Rs. 1000/-, 750/- and 500/- respectively and certificates.
On this occasion, a representative sent by the Deputy Secretary (Academic) of the Punjab School Education Board informed the students of various schools gathered about the International Punjabi Olympiad and motivated more and more students to participate in the Olympiad.
Research Officer Mrs. Jagdeep Jot appealed to the students to stay connected with their mother tongue Punjabi and keep their love for literature alive.
Special thanks were given to the school principals and teachers for preparing the students for these competitions and motivating them to participate in these competitions in future as well.
Instructor Baldev Singh, S. Gurvinder Singh Junior Assistant, Mr. Gurcharan Singh, Servant and all the stenography students made a special contribution to the success of the event. The Office of the Assistant Director (Punjabi Cell), Chandigarh thanked the Principal and all the staff of Government College, Mohali for their cooperation in conducting these competitions smoothly.
