Nawanshahr- Punjab State Water Resources Management and Development Corporation Vice Chairman Kuljit Sarhal, while inaugurating the 69th Punjab State Inter-District School Games National Style Kabaddi Age Group 19 Boys Tournament, said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuously making efforts to establish the state as a center of excellence in sports.
He said that the state government will establish playgrounds and indoor gyms in every village of Punjab where good running tracks, separate play areas for children and solar lighting will be available. Along with this, the necessary facilities for locally popular games like volleyball, football, hockey, kabaddi etc. will also be provided in the playground of every village.
Deputy District Education Officer (DDO) Lakhvir Singh and District Sports Coordinator Davinder Kaur welcomed the teams and guests from outside and appealed to play in a disciplined manner. In the preliminary league matches held today, Fatehgarh Sahib defeated Kapurthala, Bathinda defeated Rupnagar, Sangrur defeated Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Pathankot defeated Ludhiana and Sri Muktsar Sahib defeated Malerkotla.
