Punjab Government releases Rs 0130 crore to District Sangrur under Ashirwad Scheme
Sangrur, 03 August:- Under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and as per directions of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, Punjab Government has released an amount of Rs. 01.30 crore for Sangrur district for financial assistance of Rs. 51 thousand given to girls of poor and needy families at the time of marriage under Ashirwad Scheme.
Giving detailed information in this regard, Mrs. Poonamdeep Kaur, I.A.S., Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur, informed that under Ashirwad Scheme as financial assistance given at the time of marriage of girls belonging to Scheduled Castes, an amount of Rs. 81.06 lakh has been released for 160 beneficiaries of the months February and March 2026.
Similarly, as financial assistance given at the time of marriage of girls belonging to Backward Classes and Economically Backward Families, an amount of Rs. 48.00 lakh has been released for 94 beneficiaries of the months February and March 2026.
She told that under Ashirwad Scheme, financial assistance of Rs. 51,000 is given as Shagun at the time of marriage of girls belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Economically Backward Families.
District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer Sukhsagar Singh informed that the amount received is being sent to bank accounts of beneficiaries through D.B.T. mode.
