Public awareness campaign on safe building construction concluded under the Samarth program

Una, October 26 – Under the "Samarth 2025" program of the District Disaster Management Authority, Una, a public awareness campaign on disaster management and safe building construction concluded successfully on Sunday. During this campaign, artists from RK Kala Manch Chintpurni, a registered organization with the Information and Public Relations Department, educated villagers in the Gagret and Shivwadi areas about various techniques for disaster risk reduction and earthquake-safe building construction.
Through drama and dialogue, the artists informed the villagers that building earthquake-resistant houses is essential to minimize loss of life and property during natural disasters like earthquakes. They emphasized that effective results in disaster management can only be achieved through collective efforts. Therefore, when constructing buildings, use techniques that are more safe during disasters.
He provided the villagers with essential technical information for safe building construction, including the use of good cement mortar, construction of horizontal earthquake resistant bands, reinforcement of brick walls, vertical reinforcement of jambs near openings (doors and windows), pillar construction, correct methods of piling, quality of concrete and proper use of essential elements in foundation construction.
It was also urged that before making any structural changes in the buildings, one must consult an engineer or expert, so that the damage caused by disasters like earthquakes can be minimized.
