Protest outside embassy India calls Bangladeshi claims false

New Delhi: India has categorically rejected as ‘misleading propaganda’ reports in the Bangladeshi media that claimed that an attempt was made to threaten security during a protest outside the Bangladeshi High Commission in New Delhi.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs clarified that around 20-25 youth had gathered in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, on Saturday to protest against the brutal killing of Hindu youth Deepu Chandra Das.
According to the ministry, the protesters raised slogans demanding protection of minorities in Bangladesh but made no attempt to breach the security cordon or enter the embassy. The police removed the group within minutes and video evidence of the incident is publicly available.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India is committed to ensuring the security of foreign missions in its territory under the Vienna Convention. He also urged the interim government of Bangladesh to give strict punishment to the perpetrators of the ‘brutal murder’ of Dipu Chandra Das.
Jaiswal said that India is closely monitoring the deteriorating situation in Bangladesh and Indian officials are in constant touch with the Bangladeshi administration. India has also expressed its deep concern and objection over the attacks on minorities there.
