Protest at Bangla Sahib Gurdwara Gate for release of Sikhs in jails
New Delhi, 07 May, 2026:- Workers of the National Justice Morcha, Mohali and United Akali Dal, Chandigarh today protested at Sri Bangla Sahib Gurdwara in Delhi for the release of Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences in jails. After offering prayers, SGPC member Karnail Singh Panjoli asked all the workers to march towards Parliament. As soon as the protest march reached the gate of the Gurdwara, hundreds of Delhi Police present arrested them and took them to various police stations in Delhi in buses. The arrested workers were not released till 5:30 pm.
Among those arrested were United Akali Dal President Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, Bapu Gurcharan Singh National Justice Morcha, Karnail Singh Panjoli Member Shiromani Committee, Pal Singh France, National Justice Morcha Convener Gurinder Singh Bhangu Sibalvakarkunto Morcha Kisan Union, Rachpal Singh, Chandigarh United Akali Dal senior leader Machhel Singh, President S. Angrej Sibalvakarkunto Kisan Sangharsh Committee Kot Buddha, Resham Singh NREGA, Balvakarkunto Kala Jhar Sahib, Tajinder Pal Singh, Arvinder Singh Maloa, Pal Singh Gharuan, Gurinder Singh Bajwa and around 50-60 other activists participated in the protest and raised slogans against the BJP government, saying that the governments have always oppressed the Sikhs and the same is happening now too.
He asked, "Sikh prisoners who have been in jail for a long time have completed their sentences, why is the government not releasing them? This is injustice. Sikhs are being harassed."
