President honours 20 children with Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar
New Delhi:- President Droupadi Murmu on Friday conferred Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar on 20 children for their outstanding achievements in the fields of bravery, social service, environment, sports, art and culture and science and technology at a function held in New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, she congratulated the awardees and said that these children have brought glory to their families, communities and the entire country. Talking about the significance of 'Veer Bal Diwas' to be celebrated on December 26, the President said that the tenth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his four Sahibzades had made supreme sacrifices while fighting for truth and justice.
He said that the bravery of the two younger Sahibzades, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, is respected in India and abroad. The President mentioned various winners, including seven-year-old chess player Vaka Lakshmi Pragnika, bravery shown by Ajay Raj and Mohammed Sidan P, and loss of life while saving the lives of others by Vyoma Priya and Kamlesh Kumar.
Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi said that this year 20 talented children from 18 states and union territories have been honoured, who symbolise the strong foundation of the country.
