President approves Ji Ram Ji bill
New Delhi:- President Draupadi Murmu has approved the ‘Vikasit Bharat-Ji Ram Ji’ bill. The opposition opposed this bill, but still the Parliament also approved the B-Ji Ram Ji Bill-2025. The purpose of this bill is to replace the existing rural employment law ‘MGNREGA’ and ensure 125 days of employment for every rural family in every financial year.
Earlier, the Lok Sabha had passed a bill to replace the 20-year-old MGNREGA scheme with a new scheme, under which 125 days of employment has been guaranteed in rural areas every year. Amid opposition from the opposition, Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that this change was necessary to remove the shortcomings in the scheme.
After an eight-hour discussion on the Developed India Guarantee Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) (VB-G Ram Ji) Bill, Mr. Chouhan targeted the Congress, saying that the opposition has 'destroyed' the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi many times and used his name for political gains.
During the UPA regime, MGNREGA was mired in corruption and the required amount was not spent for the procurement of materials for the specified works. The 'G Ram Ji' Bill has been brought after long and wide discussions as it was felt that the amount of Rs 10-11 lakh crore should not be spent only for paying salaries but should be used for the construction of permanent assets.
