Preparations for Census 2027 Begin in Una District
Una, March 16 (Paigam-E-Jagat):- To ensure the successful conduct of the Census 2027—proposed by the Government of India—a training program for officers and employees at the district level has commenced at the DRDA Auditorium. This three-day training program, scheduled to run until March 18, is being organized under the guidance of the Directorate of Census Operations, Himachal Pradesh, and the District Administration.
Addressing the trainees at the event, Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal stated that the census is a critically important process for planning the development of any nation. Through this exercise, vital data regarding population, socio-economic status, education, housing, and other key statistics is gathered, which assists the government in formulating future policies as well as designing development schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the trainees to approach this training with seriousness, complete responsibility, and transparency, and to accurately collect all necessary information within the stipulated timeframe. He noted that the majority of the census work would be conducted through digital mediums; therefore, it is essential for field trainers to possess comprehensive knowledge of the data collection process via mobile applications and online portals.
Speaking at the event, Ashish Chauhan, Joint Director of the Directorate of Census Operations, Himachal Pradesh, explained that during this three-day training program, participants are being provided with detailed information regarding the census process, data collection methodologies, the correct usage of prescribed forms, and the procedure for recording information via mobile and digital platforms. Furthermore, guidance is being provided on the precautions to be observed during census operations and effective strategies for coordinating with citizens. He further informed that the census will be conducted in two phases: the first phase will involve the listing and enumeration of houses, while the second phase will entail the actual population enumeration. He also highlighted that, for the first time, the government is introducing a 'self-enumeration' facility on a digital platform.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendrapal Gurjar was also present at the event. District Census Officer Deepak Yaduvanshi and Senior Geographer Vivek Kanwar from Shimla participated in the training session.
The training was attended by all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, heads of Urban Local Bodies, and officials and employees from relevant departments across the district.
