Political parties should actively cooperate in Special Intensive Revision campaign Nidhi Kumud Bambah

Hoshiarpur: Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Additional District Election Officer, Nidhi Kumud Bambah, held a meeting today with representatives of various political parties at the District Administrative Complex. She provided information regarding the revised program for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists issued by the Election Commission of India. She appealed to the political parties to extend their full cooperation to the Election Department to ensure that this important task is completed in a transparent, fair, and smooth manner.
During the meeting, Nidhi Kumud Bambah stated that the Election Commission of India has issued a revised program for the Special Intensive Revision for the state of Punjab. Accordingly, the draft voter list in the district will now be published on August 3, 2026, and claims and objections will be received from August 3 to September 2, 2026. The process of disposal of notices/claims and objections will continue from August 3 to September 28, 2026. The final voter list will be published on October 1, 2026.
The Additional District Election Officer mentioned that during the previous meeting held on May 18, 2026, all political parties were requested to appoint their Booth Level Agents (BLAs). She reiterated the appeal for all parties to appoint their BLAs as soon as possible, inform the respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and send a copy to the Electoral Registration Officers and the District Election Office. She said that the active participation of BLAs will make the SIR work more transparent and effective.
Nidhi Kumud Bambah informed that pre-SIR mapping is currently underway, in which voters registered in the 2025 voter list are being matched with the 2003 voter list. To expedite this process, special camps will be organized at all polling stations in the district on June 7, 2026, as per the instructions of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab. During this time, BLOs will be present at the polling stations from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM to perform voter mapping.
She appealed to the representatives of political parties to encourage voters whose pre-SIR mapping has not yet been done to visit the special camps and provide necessary support to the BLOs. During the meeting, she informed that out of a total of 12,68,739 registered voters in Hoshiarpur district, pre-SIR mapping of 11,21,711 voters has been completed so far, which constitutes 88.41% of the total voters. She expressed confidence that with the cooperation of political parties and the general public, the mapping of the remaining voters will also be completed soon.
On this occasion, Election Kanungo Deepak Kumar, Lakhbir Singh, and representatives from various political parties, including Jaspal Singh (Aam Aadmi Party), Rajnish Tandon (Indian National Congress), Bhushan Kumar Sharma (BJP), Gurinder Singh Goldy, and Jagtar Singh (Shiromani Akali Dal), were present.
